Insurancedekho IPO

InsuranceDekho is gearing up for its big public market debut — DRHP filing targeted by September, ₹9,500 crore valuation on the table.

InsuranceDekho IPO: The InsuranceDekho IPO is inching closer to reality, with the insurtech marketplace now targeting a Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) filing with SEBI by the end of September 2026, ahead of a planned listing before March 2027. The Gurugram-based platform, India’s largest online insurance marketplace, is reportedly eyeing a valuation of around ₹9,500 crore (roughly $986 million) as it prepares for what could be one of the largest public listings from India’s digital insurance distribution sector.

InsuranceDekho IPO: How Much Is InsuranceDekho Looking to Raise

Reports on the exact fundraising target vary slightly depending on the source, but the broad range is consistent. Bloomberg reported that the company’s parent, Girnar Insurance Brokers, could seek to raise as much as $400 million (about ₹3,819 crore), while other reports peg the fresh issue and offer-for-sale combined at ₹2,500-3,000 crore. Some accounts, factoring in the RenewBuy merger, place the figure higher, at ₹3,500-4,000 crore. The company has reportedly said it does not plan to raise a pre-IPO funding round, meaning the public issue itself will be the primary capital event.

The IPO structure is expected to combine a fresh issue of shares, which brings new capital onto the company’s books, with an offer-for-sale (OFS) that allows early investors to exit. InsuranceDekho is backed by Investcorp and BNP Paribas Cardif, among others, and has raised over $300 million in equity funding to date from investors including Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, TVS Capital, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

InsuranceDekho IPO: Banks Roped In for the Offering

Girnar Insurance Brokers has reportedly selected four global and domestic banks to advise on the potential offering: HSBC Holdings, Morgan Stanley, ICICI Securities, and IIFL Capital Services. The appointment of this banking consortium, first reported by Bloomberg, is typically one of the clearer signals that a company is moving from informal IPO planning into active execution mode. That said, the size, timing, and final valuation of the offering are still said to be under discussion and could shift depending on market conditions closer to the filing date.

InsuranceDekho IPO: The RenewBuy Merger Is the Bigger Story Here

What makes the InsuranceDekho IPO particularly significant is that it isn’t just InsuranceDekho going public on its own. The company is in the final stages of merging with rival insurtech RenewBuy, a deal that was first reported in October 2024 and formally signed as a share-swap transaction in May 2025. That transaction valued the combined entity at around ₹7,400 crore, with InsuranceDekho itself valued at roughly ₹5,400 crore and RenewBuy at ₹1,800 crore, though some later coverage has pegged the combined platform closer to ₹8,000 crore, or about $1 billion.

The merger has reportedly already secured approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and received initial clearance from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), and both companies have indicated the process is expected to conclude shortly. Under the deal structure, the operating entities on both sides — Girnar Finserv and Girnar Insurance Brokers from InsuranceDekho, and D2C Consulting Services and RB Info Services from RenewBuy — are being folded into Artivatic Data Labs, an AI-led insurance technology company that RenewBuy had acquired in 2022. Artivatic is expected to serve as the core tech and legal entity housing the combined business going forward.

On leadership, InsuranceDekho founder Ankit Agrawal is widely reported to be taking over as CEO of the merged entity, with all four founders from both companies expected to continue in the organisation. The combined platform, once formed, is expected to become one of India’s largest tech-led insurance distributors after Policybazaar, with a reported premium book of around ₹6,000 crore and an agent network spanning both companies’ reach across more than 1,500 towns.

InsuranceDekho IPO: Why This IPO Matters for India’s Insurtech Sector

InsuranceDekho was incubated within the CarDekho Group and has grown into India’s largest online insurance marketplace, competing directly with listed rival Policybazaar as well as players like Turtlemint and PB Partners. If the IPO proceeds as planned, it would mark one of the largest-ever public listings from India’s digital insurance distribution space, and would come at a time when several new-age financial services companies are lining up for public markets. Notably, CarDekho itself is reportedly preparing a separate IPO of its own, expected to file papers by August 2026, though InsuranceDekho is set to list as an independent entity.

Fresh capital raised through the IPO is reportedly earmarked for technology investment, acquisitions, and expansion into adjacent financial services verticals — a fairly standard playbook for insurtech platforms looking to deepen their distribution moat ahead of intensifying competition in India’s underpenetrated insurance market.

InsuranceDekho IPO: What We Still Don’t Know

As of now, the DRHP itself hasn’t been filed, so several details — the final issue size, the fresh issue-to-OFS ratio, anchor investors, and the exact listing date — remain unconfirmed and subject to change based on market conditions. The March 2027 listing timeline is also a target rather than a locked date, and much will depend on how quickly the RenewBuy merger formalities close and how SEBI’s review process unfolds once the draft papers are filed.

We’ll keep updating this piece as more details emerge on the InsuranceDekho IPO, including the DRHP filing, price band, and anchor investor list once they’re announced.
