Ather Energy’s insurance arm gets IRDAI licence to sell life, general and health policies
Ather Energy is entering the insurance distribution market with regulatory approval to offer life, health and general insurance products, broadening its business beyond electric mobility.

Ather Energy has received an IRDAI licence for its insurance arm to sell life, general and health insurance policies, expanding its presence in the insurance sector.
NEW DELHI, Ather Energy: Ather Energy on October 15 said the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has granted its wholly owned subsidiary, Ather Insurance Ltd, a certificate of registration to operate as a Corporate Agent (Composite). The licence allows the unit to distribute and service life, general and health insurance products.
The electric two-wheeler maker disclosed the development in a filing to the National Stock Exchange. The registration has been granted under the IRDAI (Registration of Corporate Agents) Regulations, 2015.
In the filing, the company said the approval will help it diversify its revenue stream by leveraging its existing customer base to create recurring revenue opportunities. It listed two expected benefits: diversification of revenue streams, and an improved customer experience for its customers and retail partners.
The registration is valid from October 15, 2026, and will remain in force, subject to payment of the annual fee, until it is suspended or cancelled by IRDAI.
A composite corporate agent licence permits an entity to tie up with insurers across life, general and health segments, rather than being limited to a single category.
The company, formerly Ather Energy Private Limited, is headquartered in Bengaluru.
