NORKA Care Plus: NORKA Roots has published the enrolment fee chart for the second phase of NORKA Care Plus, giving Non-Resident Keralites clarity on costs across sum insured options ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹1 crore, as the registration window for the health and personal accident insurance scheme runs till September 18, 2026. This second phase covers the remaining eight months of the policy period, from August 15, 2026 to April 14, 2027.
The fee chart, inclusive of GST, sets out separate rates depending on the sum insured selected and the family combination being enrolled — self only, self with spouse and children, or self with parents and in-laws included.

NORKA Care Plus: Who Is Eligible
NORKA Care Plus is open to Non-Resident Keralites aged 18 to 80 who hold a valid NORKA Identity Card, including the Pravasi ID, Student ID, or NRK ID. Applicants who do not already have a NORKA ID Card must obtain one before enrolling in the insurance scheme.
Those who select a sum insured plan of ₹10 lakh or higher have the additional option of including their parents, or their spouse’s parents, up to the age of 80, under the same policy — an inclusion not available on the ₹5 lakh plan.
NORKA Care Plus: Coverage Continues Even After Returning to Kerala
Among the scheme’s distinguishing features, NRKs who enrol with a valid NORKA Identity Card continue to remain covered under NORKA Care Plus even if they return to Kerala permanently at a later date, according to NORKA Roots.

NORKA Care Plus: Documents Required
- A valid NORKA Identity Card
- Passport and visa details, or proof of residence or work status abroad
- Aadhaar details for the applicant and any family members being added
- Bank account details, for claim and refund purposes
- A recent passport-size photograph, where required
Step 1: Obtain a NORKA ID Card, If You Don’t Have One
Applicants without an existing NORKA ID Card must first register for one through id.norkaroots.kerala.gov.in or the NORKA Roots website, using basic personal details and OTP verification via SMS or WhatsApp. The card is valid for three years and carries a separate enrolment fee of its own.
Step 2: Pick a Registration Channel
Enrolment in NORKA Care Plus can be completed through three routes. Individual registration is available directly via the NORKA Roots portal (norkaroots.kerala.gov.in) or the NORKA Care Plus mobile app on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Group registration is available through NORKA-approved Pravasi organisations abroad, with members of non-approved associations able to enrol using a temporary ID issued for mass registration. Companies employing large numbers of Malayalee workers abroad can use a separate corporate registration facility to enrol staff in bulk.

Step 3: Choose a Sum Insured Plan and Family Combination
Using the fee chart above, applicants can select the sum insured option and family combination that fits their household — from a ₹5 lakh individual plan at ₹8,101 to a ₹1 crore plan covering self, spouse, parents or in-laws, and two children at ₹1,20,139. Additional children beyond the base count can be added at the specified per-child rate, up to a maximum of three additional children on the ₹10 lakh plan and above.
Step 4: Pay the Enrolment Fee and Submit
Once the plan and dependants are selected, the enrolment fee is paid online through the portal or app. On successful payment, the policy record is generated, and the E-Card can be downloaded once processing is complete.
Step 5: Know the Waiting Period Before You Enrol
This second enrolment phase carries the standard 30-day waiting period before coverage becomes active, a change from the scheme’s first phase, which had waived the waiting period entirely. Coverage under this phase runs from August 15, 2026 to April 14, 2027, with fees adjusted proportionately for the shorter policy term.
NORKA Care Plus: What Happens After Enrolment
Registered members can log in to download their E-Card, check the network hospital list, and track claim status through the portal or app. Cashless treatment is available at close to 24,000 empanelled hospitals across India, including more than 688 in Kerala. For reimbursement claims, all required documents must be submitted within 30 days of hospital discharge.
